What We Do
The American Foundation for Children's Health Awareness (AFCHA) is the leading organization dedicated to combating the spread of childhood obesity through free literature to parents on healthy habits for kids. We're dedicated to benefiting America's 27 million children and adolescents battling the signs of the condition.
Currently the number of obese children in the United States is at its' highest in history, causing kids to develop low self-esteem and related problems that can include diabetes and hypertension.
The early childhood and adolescent periods are critical times in a child's life. Child health and care professionals can play critical roles during these stages. Only a small number of children and adolescents are fortunate enough to see pediatricians, registered dietitians, fitness experts, psychologists and nutritional consultants all within the course of a year.
Our goal is to make the valuable contributions of over 90,000 doctors, nurses, researchers and advocates from the various disciplines of child health and care readily available to professionals and parents to help them help kids win the fight against childhood obesity.
Afcha believes that a healthy lifestyle that curbs and prevents childhood obesity begins early. Through relevant literature to professionals and parents we are taking aim at childhood obesity in all communities.
